Detail at least 3 aspects of this book that reflect characteristics of literary merit? 3-5 sentences (Provide specific examples and explain how those examples relate to literary merit)                                                                                                                                                         Where The Crawdads Sings has historical significance because the book writes from the perspective of Kya. Kya is the loner of the town, and she has to deal with the outside prejudice. The book also has style because of the beautiful descriptions of the marsh. The book has storytelling because it builds complex characters each with their own reason and thoughts.

Important events/conflicts: 3-5 sentences                                                                                        One of the most important events in the novel is when Tate abandons Kya. Kya has finally learned about the warmth of the comfort of another human, and Tate leaving her left her with a feeling of sadness she never felt before. Additionally, the court finding Kya innocent was a big part of the book. This shows how the townspeople do have sympathy for Kya's situation.
