Always start your year with a well-thought out PD plan. Below, here's some ideas for putting it together.

Identified areas for improvement:

Start by identifying areas you want to improve. Look back to anything from last school year that can inform your choices about areas you want to improve: notes from parent-teacher conferences, meetings with a mentor, etc.

Below are some examples of areas you can consider for improvement:

  • Classroom environment

  • Planning and preparation (e.g., lesson planning)
  • Presentation skills
  • Professional skills
  • Communication: parent and/or student
  • Classroom management

PLC (Professional learning community):

Use this space to describe involvement in a PLC. See this bulb page for a template to document PLC activities.

Goals & Learning Strategy

In the space below, describe each PD goal. Each PD goal should address the idea(s) identified for improvement above.

Below each goal, sketch out the general strategy for achieving that goal. Consider the following types of learning strategies to achieve the goals:

  • Reflection activities

  • Professional development events
  • Personal study
  • Improved communication with student or families
  • New approach(es) to lesson planning and student assignments
  • Interaction with a mentor or PLC members

Below each learning strategy, write out the desired result(s) you want to achieve with this goal.

    • learning strategy #1

    • learning strategy #2

    • desired result #1

    • desired result #2

  2. GOAL #2
    • learning strategy #1

    • learning strategy #2
    • desired result #1
