Introduction :

In Advanced Graphic Design & Illustration each group we were given a board game where we had to redesign the look to make it fit the criteria we were given. Our group was given the board game Careers where we had to create a more modern appeal. We had to learn how to work as a team and communicate with each other effectively in order to create our board game. We faced some challenges along the way, but in the end we learned what the main purpose of this project and how to do things differently in the future.

Our team updated the Careers logo by adding a more modern color and font, and also using the negative space in the "C" to represent fame, fortune, and happiness.
The updated box consists of new images, careers, colors, fonts, and adding the VT logo.
We used the same content for the instructions, but changed the layout and adding the VT logo.
We used the same content for the instructions, but changed the layout and adding the VT logo.
We updated the boxes so they correspond to the new modern careers; however, we did not get to finish.
We changed the color and font of the card and we also added an image that went with the title.
We used a simplistic design and added a modern font and colors.
Instead of using the slips of paper we decided to use a white board where we you possibly can't run out of paper and play as many times as you want.

Process :

When we were first given this project I have never heard of the board game Careers, luckily though we were given a day to play the game. The game was rather confusing and the look reminded me of the 1970's and needed a more modern appeal. When we were on released to be on our own with our groups we discussed the changes we needed to be made. We agreed to change the color, font, careers, make the instructions more clear, and change the salary level. Each of us in our group were given a role and set out to do our own piece in the project. We ended up running to many complications along the way which dealt with not communicating with each other, kept messing up measurements, and technical problems with the CNC machine with our whiteboards. We didn't finish creating the Careers board game; however, it was a very eye-opening experience.

Reflections :

From doing this project I learned that I need better communication with my group members, because it you're always on different pages and creates major problems. I also learned how to use Adobe Illustrator better, which I believe if I can keep practicing on it I'll improve more and more. In future projects I hope to learn how to interact better with my teammates and get more feedback on what I can improve with the project I'm doing.
