In this Drummond sweaters ad the text states that "men are better than women". Also that women are only useful in a home and on a mountain they are a "drag". It says that even thought this is a climbing sweater you don't have to be climbing to it show off to a women. The subtext is men can impress women if they wear this sweater.
The target audience is men. Mostly men who want/have women to show off to. It wants men to picture themselves on the mountain with a women and her needing his help. Although the men in this ad are white it appeals to all men. It also appeals to middle aged men.
This ads main problem is it is very sexist saying that men are better than women. It says women are only useful in the house.
This ad also suggests that if you wear the sweater women will like you and if women like you it's because of the sweater. This is the post hoc ergo prompter hoc fallacy.
Another problem is it uses the bandwagon fallacy. All these other people say the sweater impresses women so why shouldn't you believe that?
