1. My name is Emma Sikes, I am 16 and a junior at Rocky. After high school, I am hoping to go to UNC to get my K-12 art teaching degree and start teaching right away after that. My main hobbies include drawing, reading, writing, and hanging out with my best friend. My family and my friends are very important to me. I am also very determined to be successful in school and in life.
2. To me, art is a means to cope, with really any emotion. Whether the feeling is really happy and excited, or angry and sad, and everything between, a person can express that through all different kinds of art. It often allows people to be heard, and express the things that they may be afraid to say. All kinds of art have been able to change people and their emotions. One of my favorite kinds of art is 'Revolutionary Art', and the reason why I love it so much is because it gives insight from different people about the same situation, and it shows a individual that a problem that isn't a real big deal to them, could mean that that same problem could be a persons whole life. Art, I believe, is a part of persons individuality.
3. The main kind of art that I communicate through is drawing, but really through colors, or the lack thereof, or symbols that can be more hidden or more prominent throughout a piece.

Fauxreel is a street artist who lives in Toronto, Canada, and their main focus is on the social and economic issues that surrounds them. I love Fauxreel just because they know how to share the issues around them in a proper way that can be striking to almost anyone, and they can add their own personal creative aspects to every different piece that they do to put across the issue that a certain piece is about.
I recently found Misha Gordin, and I love what he does. Misha Gordin does conceptual photography, where he take pictures of the world around him, but can still create part of his own world in his reality. Conceptual photography is something I would love to be great at, or start doing after I learn things from my photography class, and Misha Gordin is a great example of what I would like to do.
Whenever I am painting or drawing, I like to portray more realistic areas when it comes to portraying human beings. I think that Kent Williams does this portrayal in a way that is raw and real. His paintings intrigue me in a way that makes me want to know exactly how he is able to paint the way that he paints.
For me its pretty obvious who one of my main inspirations growing up is Hayley Williams, from Paramore. I started following the band when I was probably 8, and have stuck with them ever since, and one of the main reasons is because of Hayley Williams. She is a big believer in self expression, and has taught me that it is okay to wear what I want to, or style my hair the way that I want to, even if its not exactly what most people around me would call normal, or would be okay with it.
5. I would like to accomplish being able to know how to do a different art form than what I am used to, and understand/have a greater appreciation for different art forms.
